Effect of EDTA on reducing tissue cadmium bioaccumulation and cadmium antagonism related to some mineral micro- and macronutrients in Prussian carp (Carassius gibelio).

Abstract
EDTA is a chelating agent used deliberately in various fields (pulp and paper industry, detergents industry, food industry, medicine, biomedical labs) in order to sequester metal ions which have harmful effects in many processes as well as in obtaining of many products. Taking as starting point the EDTA property to form metal-EDTA complexes we decided to test its effectiveness in mobilizing of the contaminant metal ions, especially cadmium from tissue of Prussian carp specimens subjected to chronic poisoning with cadmium acetate. At the same time we investigated the EDTA ability to reduce the known cadmium antagonism exhibited vis-à-vis some essential macro-and microminerals.

The effect of ascorbic acid on hatching performance and tolerance against environmental stressor (high temperature) by immersion of Prussian carp (Carassius gibelio) fertilized eggs
The aim of this study was to evaluate the influence of L-ascorbic acid (AA) in three levels (0,100, 1000 and 2000 mg L-1) on eyed egg and hatching rate, growth and viability of larva, and larval tolerance against high te...
Sorption kinetics of Pb, Cu and Zn ions by natural zeolites from Maramures County (northern Romania): potential application inwastewater reus
The sorption kinetics of Pb[sup]2+[/sup], Cu[sup]2+[/sup]and Zn[sup]2+[/sup]ions by natural zeolite tuff from Maramureş County (northern Romania) was studied using agitated batch laboratory apparatus at two temperature l...

Observations of surgical wound healing in Cyprinus carpi
The current short paper is a summary of a wider research on surgical wound healing in common carp. Temperature and suture type influences were observed for 30 days, postoperatory.
Summary of results of population density surveys of the Banggai cardinalfish in the Banggai Archipelago, Sulawesi, Indonesia, from 2007 –2012
The unique endemic Banggai cardinalfish (Pterapogon kauderni)(BCF) is still among the top 10 imported species of marine aquarium fish in the US. The fish has been classified as an endangered species due to concerns over...
