Epigallocatechin gallate accelerates healing of indomethacin-induced stomach ulcers in mice.
Management of the gastric toxicity of non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs) remains a crucial problem because the commercially available drugs have side effects and are often expensive. Therefore, we examined th...
Mechanisms of platelet-activating factor (PAF)-mediated responses in the lung.
Platelet-activating factor (PAF) is a potent lipid mediator that has been implicated in asthma, sepsis, acute lung injury and ischemia/reperfusion injury. Its actions in the lungs include vasoconstriction, bronchoconstri...
Limited applicability of 7-methoxy-4-trifluoromethylcoumarin as a CYP2C9-selective substrate.
Fluorometric substrates selective for various cytochrome P450 isoforms (P450s) have great advantages in in vitro enzyme inhibition and induction studies because they are highly sensitive and suitable for rapid screening....
Huntington's disease: pathogenesis to animal models.
Huntington's disease (HD) is an inherited genetic disorder, characterized by cognitive dysfunction and abnormal body movements called chorea. George Huntington, an Ohio physician, described the disease precisely in 1872....
Repeated co-treatment with fluoxetine and amantadine induces brain-derived neurotrophic factor gene expression in rats.
In the present study, we investigated the influence of repeated treatment with fluoxetine (FLU, 5 or 10 mg/kg) and amantadine (AMA, 10 mg/kg), given separately or jointly (twice daily for 14 day), at the mRNA level (the...
