Effect of infliximab on metabolic disorders induced by Walker-256 tumor in rats.
Journal Title: Pharmacological Reports - Year 2013, Vol 65, Issue 4
Abstract
The purpose of this study was to investigate the effect of infliximab, an anti-tumor necrosis factor α (TNFα) monoclonal antibody, on the progression of cachexia and several metabolic parameters affected by the Walker-256 tumor in rats.

Free radicals generated by xanthine/xanthine oxidase system augment nitric oxide synthase (NOS) and cyclooxygenase (COX)-independent component of bradykinin-induced vasodilatation in the isolated guinea pig heart.
Recently, we have reported that bradykinin (Bk)-induced vasodilation was selectively potentiated by a low concentration of reactive oxygen species (ROS) generated by xanthine/xanthineoxidase system (XOX) in the coronary...
Alterations in hippocampal calcium-binding neurons induced by stress models of depression: a preliminary assessment.
In this study, the neuropathological changes induced by chronic unpredictable stress (CUS) and chronic mild stress (CMS) in calbindin D-28K (CB) and parvalbumin (PV) immunoreactive neurons in the rat hippocampus were dem...
Modulating effects of nonselective and selective phosphodiesterase inhibitors on lymphocyte subsets and humoral immune response in mice.
Phosphodiesterase (PDE) inhibitors can regulate the activity of immune cells by increasing intracellular levels of cyclic nucleotides. The aim of this study was to determine the effects of milrinone, a selective PDE3 inh...
Hypertriglyceridemia but not hypercholesterolemia induces endothelial dysfunction in the rat.
In humans, hypercholesterolemia and hypertriglyceridemia induce endothelial dysfunction and therefore lead to atherosclerosis. In contrast, rats are resistant to atherosclerosis. Here we analyze whether rats respond to h...
Single centre 20 year survey of antiepileptic drug-induced hypersensitivity reactions.
Background: Epilepsy is a chronic neurological disease which affects about 1% of the human population. There are 50 million patients in the world suffering from this disease and 2 million new cases per year are observed....
