Effectiveness of Pictoword in Improving Poem Interpretation

Abstract
In recent years many activities have appeared to help learners understand what they are reading. One of these activities is through the use of pictoword activity that uses pictures or other visual images to represent words or symbols that we can integrate in improving poem interpretation. In this way, we can help our learners to enhance their comprehension and make reading poem fun at the same time. The main purpose of the research study was to determine the effectiveness of pictoword activity in improving poem interpretation of grade 10 students. In view of the significant findings of the study, the following conclusions are hereby presented: In terms of the performance of the respondents in poem interpretation, pictoword method is effective based on the test scores of the students. Pictoword method is effective for both the visual and non-visual learners in increasing their test scores in interpreting poems. Based on the findings of this study, the used of pictoword method is highly recommended to increase the performance of the students in poem interpretation.
