Effects of type of pollen grains on qualitative and quantitative traits of pistachio in Yazd Province (Khatam Region)

Abstract

In this experiment, the effects of 10 type of pollen grains on qualitative and quantitative traits of Pistachio in Yazd Province (Khatam Region) was investigated. Ten types of pollen of local selective genotypes (Q1 - Q10) which were different pollinizers were used. The experiment had 10 treatments. Akbari cultivars were pollinated with supplementary pollinations as treatment. Results showed that pollination with NO. 10 of pollen grains had positive effects on fruit number per cluster and reduction of blank percentage and hollow. NO. ten types of pollen increased quantitative traits, but also it improved some qualitative traits such as unsplit nut percentage and reduced blank nut percentage in Akbari cultivars.
