Abstract
For the purposes of this study, the competences and aspects of the formative areas of personal and social development were taken up, taking into account the considerations of the Curriculum 2011, guide for the educator, where their fundamentals, approaches and characteristics are reflected. This research corresponds to two qualitative and quantitative cuts, supported by the use of two techniques of data collection semi-structured interviews and surveys, which were used to demonstrate how teachers develop the proposed competencies for the child to achieve the construction of their personal identity and the formation of selfconcept through the stimulation of their physical capacities, self-reflection about their emotional qualities and limitations, recognition of their body and image and the direct relationship that exists between the professional competences of preschool teachers to design, apply and to evaluate didactic situations of this areas in favor of an optimum social and emotional development of the students that it attends.
