Journal Title: International Journal of Clinical Biochemistry and Research - Year 2018, Vol 5, Issue 3
Abstract
Aim To establish reference range of T3 T4 and TSH of adult female population at Clinical Biochemistry Laboratory GCS Hospital AhmedabadMaterials and Methods The study was conducted among 151 healthy females who had undergone health check up at GCS hospital Blood samples were collected for a period from June 2015 to October 2016 The mean age of all the females was 4249 and the median was 4200 years with ages ranging from 23 to 70 years Participants who had diabetes hypertension history of drug intake or any other systemic disease were not included in the studyResults Established reference ranges are 077169 ngml 5371210 gdl and 050506 IUml for T3 T4 and TSH hormones respectivelyConclusion The thyroid hormone reference interval of the study considerably varies from that of manufacturer39s range There should be need for population based specific range for clinicallaboratories running at tertiary hospitalsKeywords Reference range
