Етнорелігійний чинник у контексті історичних зв’язків Київської Русі і Скандинавії / Ethnoreligious Factor in the Context of Historical Ties between Kievan Rus and Scandinavia

Abstract
The article deals with ethnoreligious interconnections between Scandinavian residents and residents of Kievan Rus. Special attention has been paid to Varangian Vikings. Most of the tome Vikings mixed with Slavic soldiers in their activities (mercenary army). Soldiers were the ones who were first bearers of Christianity in Scandinavian and Russian lands. Researching this aspect it has been focused that Scandinavian people without any doubts could take Christianity in Byzantium and taking this into account they could some impact on Old Russian population with whom they had close tights represented by Knyaz, soldiers and sellers. But most probably this impact was a secondary one. Historical facts regarding the stay of two future governors of Norway such as Olaf Tryggvason and Magnus den Gode in Kievan Rus have been highlighted. In the context of ethnoreligious contacts this is important because Olaf who stayed in Kievan Rus baptized further Norway. Dissemination of Olaf Tryggvason’s worship after he became a canonized saint is very remarkable. It additionally proves high cultural and religious contacts between Rus and Scandinavia. The article also provides facts from the biography of konung Haraldr Sigurðarson whose life was closely connected with Rus. It is essential to highlight that such important role of Kiev throne in affairs of Scandinavia was resulted by successful foreign policy of Kiev knyazs and particularly Yaroslav the Wise. Attention has been focused on impact which made it possible to baptize Scandinavians and their further life in Kievan Rus with more ethnical and religious assimilation.
