Evaluation of Advanced Bread Wheat Lines Cultivated under Rainfed Conditions in Diyarbakir
Journal Title: ISPEC Journal of Agricultural Sciences - Year 2022, Vol 6, Issue 3
Abstract
Wheat is an annual plant and is grown almost all over the world because it has many varieties that can be grown in all climates and soil conditions. The aim of this research is to evaluate the performance of some advanced bread wheat lines in Diyarbakir conditions and to determine the superior genotypes in terms of grain yield. The study was carried out in Dicle University Faculty of Agriculture Research and Application area in Diyarbakir in the 2018-2019 wheat growing season under rainfed conditions. In the research, 18 advanced bread wheat lines and 2 control varieties (Gumus and Wafia) obtained from the International Corn and Wheat Development Center (CIMMYT) were used. In the study, the parameters of heading time, plant height, spike length, spikelets number, number of grains per spike, grain weight per spike, and grain yield were investigated. At the end of the study, E12, E16, E17 and E18 lines outperformed standard cultivars and other lines in terms of yield and other investigated parameters and were determined as promising cultivar candidates to be grown in Diyarbakır conditions.
