Evaluation of Anti Microbial Activity of Coriandrum sativum
Journal Title: International Journal of Scientific Research and Reviews - Year 2012, Vol 1, Issue 3
Abstract
To investigate the antimicrobial activity of Ethanol, Methanol, Acetone, Chloroform, Hexane and Petroleum ether extract of Coriandrum sativum was tested against infectious disease causing bacterial pathogens such as such as E.Coli, Pseudomonas aeruginosa, Staphylococcus aureus and Klebsiella Pneumonia fungus like Aspergillus niger, Candida albicans, Candida kefyr and Candida tropicalis using the Agar Well diffusion method. The Methanol extract of Coriandrum sativum showed more activity against Staphylococcus aureus zone of diameter 12.17±0.29 and Klebsiella pneumonia zone of diameter 12.17±0.15 and the Methanol extract of Coriandrum sativum showed more activity against Candida albicans zone of diameter 14.20±0.20 and Aspergillus niger of diameter 10.10±0.10 , when compared to other solvent extracts . In the present study, both in bacteria and fungi methanol extract showed a varying degree of inhibition to the growth of tested organism than Ethanol, Acetone, Chloroform, Hexane and Petroleum ether. The results confirmed that presence of antibacterial and antifungal activity in the sundried extract of Coriandrum sativum against the human pathogenic organisms. The Methanolic extract of sun dried Coriandrum sativum showed better activity against the most tested organisms

Transparent Conducting CdO Thin Films Fabricated by Low Cost Simplified Spray Technique Using Perfume Atomizer
Highly crystalline transparent conducting cadmium oxide thin films were fabricated at 325ºC by employing an inexpensive, simplified spray technique using perfume atomizer. X-ray diffraction peaks depict that the films ha...
Elucidation of The Microbial Community in Activated Sludge using PCR-DGGE Analysis in Arid and Semi Arid Regions of Rajasthan
Activated sludge is the most commonly used process to treat sewage and industrial waste water by micro organisms. The activated sludge system depends on the activities of microbial communities present in the sludge. Ho...
Synthesis of Tetrazolo, Triazolo and Quinazolino Annulated Analogues of the Privileged Nucleus of Pyrrolo-[1, 5]-Benzothiazepines of Medicinal Interest
The nucleophilic displacement of 2-iminothiomethylether derivative of pyrrolo-1,5- benzothiazepines was elegantly exploited in its reaction with bidentate nucleophiles such as NH2-NH2 (followed by reaction with HNO2),...
An Assessment of Dietary Practices of Reproductive Age Group Women based on Their Hb Status in Jamnagar City, Gujarat, India.
Iron deficiency is the most common aetiology of anaemia worldwide and India too. Although iron deficiency anaemia (IDA) can occur at any age, women from reproductive age group are particularly vulnerable to develop IDA...
HAIL SUPPRESSION BY APPLICATION OF EXTERNAL ELECTRIC FIELD
The lightning is often followed in the cloud by a rapidly increasing intensifying echo and then by a gush of rain or hail at the ground. The increase in radar reflectivity in small volumes of the cloud following lightn...
