Evaluation of entrepreneur’s social motivations in the agriculture production cooperatives

Abstract

The purpose of this study was evaluating the motivations and characteristics of the entrepreneurs in the agriculture production cooperatives. It is a quantitative and descriptive study carried out by a survey approach. Statistical society of the study were all directorate members (N=1976) of Khuzestan agriculture production cooperatives, from which 101 ones were selected using Cochrane formula with Stratified sampling. The main tool of the study, questionnaire, included the personal and professional characteristics of the directing managers and the motivations of the entrepreneurs. The content validity of the questionnaire was evaluated by experts familiar with the subjects. Questionnaire’s reliability was calculated by pre-test and Cronbach`s alpha coefficient for different parts of it; Cronbach`s alpha coefficient was larger than 0.80 at all parts of the questionnaire. results indicated that having several skills and abilities in taking the responsibility is the most important characteristic of the cooperative`s entrepreneurs. The most important motivation of the entrepreneurs in the agriculture production cooperative is to emphasize on the employment role of entrepreneurship. Categorizing the entrepreneurs’` motivations with factor analysis, five factors of internal motivation ,supports ,individual contacts ,presence in festivals ,and visits explain about 81.47 percent of the variance related to the motivation of cooperative`s entrepreneurs.
