Evaluation of maximum specific optical density for selected wood based materials using PN-EN ISO 5659:2017 method

Abstract

Evaluation of maximum specific optical density for selected wood based materials using PN-EN ISO 5659:2017 method. The aim objectives of the present study is to measure maximum specific optical density under prescribed chamber method as per PN-EN ISO 5659:2017 method. The specimens: beech plywood, film faced plywood with melamine film, particle board, laminated particle board, OSB board, MDF board and HDF board are tested inside closed chamber and readings of light transmission were taken. Specimens were mounted horizontally within a chamber and exposed to the thermal radiationon their upper surfaces at selected levels of constant external heat of flux: 25 and 50 kW/m2. This study provides the basis for predicting the smoke optical density parameter. The results of research are summarized. Conclusions are provided at the end of the paper.
