EVALUATION OF SOME VARIABLES ASSOCIATED WITH HBA1C AND INFLUENCING HEART DISEASE

Journal Title: INTERNATIONAL JOURNAL OF ADVANCED MEDICINE - Year 2018, Vol 2, Issue 5

Abstract

Objective: To understand variables that are signi􀃶cantly associated with HbA1c and in􀃸uencing heart disease. Patients and methods: Two groups of patients; diabetic group (DG) 132 patients, and non-diabetic (NDG) group 84 patients, were considered in this study. Information about some relevant variables that thought to be associated with both HbA1c and heart disease were recorded and subjected to statistical analysis. IBM SPSS version 20 was used to run statistical procedures used in this study. Results: Statistical analysis showed that the proportions of occurrence for the relevant variables from the two groups of patients were signi􀃶cantly different and that these of the DG are essentially higher than that of the NDG. Patients of the diabetic groups were showed signi􀃶cantly higher proportion of occurrence for the relevant variables for those with HbA1c>7% than those with HbA1c<7%. Age and HbA1c were signi􀃶cantly found to have inverse relationship. Conclusion: In the cases that patients lose control on HbA1c, it will be gradually deteriorated by time and that interpret the inverse relationship between age and HbA1c. Non-diabetic patients admitted to emergency unit have no clue that they have hyperglycemia which may resulted in a variety of bad prognosis.
