EVALUATION OF THE AGRICULTURAL TOURISM POTENTIAL OF GAZİPAŞA: SWOT ANALYSIS

Abstract
In recent years, people fed up with the daily city life showed tendency to visit natural sites. One of these is agrotourism. Agrotourism tourism enables people living in big cities to witness the rural life, to get to know new customs and local cultures, to reflect on natural life in their life style.Agritourism activities include; accommodation in small cottages, pensions and camping area, breakfast, picnic, fruit collection from tree, animal feeding, honey tasting, horse riding, fruit and production festives, fishing, bush walking. These activities could be carried out in family baseor by tours, student groups and agricultural education and nature education groups. Agrotourism while increasing income and employment opportunities on the one hand, the other hand, it helps the protection of natural resources and the effective use of the accommodation capacity. Gazipaşa has also sea-sun-sand tourism facilities in addition to an important agricultural diversity. Its strengths are excellent natural conditions, diversified species, abundant eco-agricultural tourism resources, advantageous location. Weaknesses; low development level, insufficiency of accommodation establishments, insufficiency infrastructure etc. Opportunities, to be untouched, to be suitable for development and having airport and threats environmental pollution, deterioration of agricultural resources. However, its natural, historical and cultural beauties, especially early vegetable and fruit production takes an important place in our country. Because of these characteristics, Gazipaşa has constituted a significant potential for the agricultural tourism.
