Abstract

In this research we aim to evaluate the apartment residence in process of open space of living venue usage. With this intension we have chosen Atlantis City Apartments in Bat?kent region in Ankara that appeals to upper socio economic status (USES) for our research. These apartments consists of 3 bedroom and 4 bedroom apartments, we have conducted sample survey to determine changes that they have applied on the open living spaces. In conclusion most of the users think thathaving open space and hallway, living space and kitchen directly connected to each other useful. Also the residences think that having open space positively impacts their furniture arrangements. In addition to these findings an important portion of the surveyors used seperators between the hallways and the living space for privacy as well as some others used separators between the kitchen and the hallway to avoid cooking odour. That the survey also reveals that the surveyors perception of light/sullen concept differs in terms of open living space. We believe that perception difference is caused by the fact that 4 bedroom apartments have windows directly open to frontage.
