Experimental investigation of isopropyl alcohol (IPA) /diesel blends in a diesel engine for improved exhaust emissions
Journal Title: International Journal of Automotive Engineering and Technologies - Year 2015, Vol 4, Issue 1
Abstract
This study focuses on the effect of blending isopropyl alcohol (IPA) and diesel fuel with conventional diesel. The effect of isopropyl alcohol on a diesel engine was examined experimentally in a three-cylinder direct injection diesel engine running at a constant speed of 1500 rpm at different loads. 1% dodecanol was added into the mixture. From the results, it was seen that the CO, HC and smoke density emissions decreased, while NOx emissions and SFC increased with the increase in exhaust gas temperature.

Performance Analysis and Simulation of Diesel Engine on Variable Compression Ratio
A systematic study to determine the effect of varying the compression ratio on the performance of a diesel engine is carried out. In this paper the various performance parameters have been studied at various compression...
Performance and exhaust emissions of a spark ignition engine using G-Series and E20 fuels
In this research paper, performance and exhaust emissions of a spark ignition (SI) engine (XU7JP/L3) is presented. A gasoline-ethanol blend (E20) and G-Series fuel, of GS1 and GS2, which is a mixture of gasoline, ethanol...
Blast diffusion by different shapes of vehicle hull
In many parts of the world, the blast is a frequent occurrence case. Blast damages humans as well to the property. The physics of blast is very complicated for analysis. Hence, researcher have been studying physics of an...
Flow features of confined swirling jets
Assessment of LES models of confined coaxial swirling jets is the aim of this paper. Despite the simple geometrical set-up of the benchmark, the flow pattern shows complex aerodynamic behavior. The case considers two coa...
Effect of cottonseed oil methyl ester on the performance and exhaust emissions of a vehicle
The present work investigates the impact on vehicle performance and exhaust emissions from vehicle when using 100% diesel with petroleum origin (fossil diesel), compared to a mixture of 2-5-100% cottonseed oil methyl est...
