Exploring the Experiences of the IP Parents in the Implementation of Child Protection Policy in the Indigenous Cultural Community

Abstract
This qualitative research, employing a phenomenological approach, explored the experiences of ten participants to sightsee the implementation of the school Child Protection Policy in the Indigenous Cultural Community. Purposive sampling was done as the participants were selected based on their characteristics and attributes as parents. In-depth interviews featured: Rose, Elastic Woman, Bamboo, Balikbayan, and Harvester; while the Focused Group Discussion involved Fu Marikit, Bong Fulung Ye, Sir Toe, Fye Bawe Libon, and Makisig. The study identified five critical themes: Positive and Negative Impacts of Child Protection Policy; The Challenging Outcomes of CPP; The Challenges in Implementing the CPP in the Indigenous Cultural Community; Overcoming Challenges with Resilience and Communication, and Balancing Acts of Protection. These themes provided great insights into the multifaceted aspects of CPP implementation, offering a comprehensive understanding of the Indigenous Cultural Community's dynamics. By contributing to the existing body of knowledge, this research informs future initiatives, guiding efforts to enhance the safety and well-being of children in Indigenous communities. The findings underscored the importance of tailoring child protection strategies to the unique cultural context of Indigenous communities, fostering resilience, effective communication, and a balanced approach to ensure positive outcomes.
