Journal Title: Revista CEA - Year 2024, Vol 10, Issue 23
Abstract
Purpose: To analyze the entrepreneurial profile of young university students in the Department of La Guajira, Colombia. Methodology/Design: This study adopted a descriptive quantitative approach and used exploratory factor analysis to identify the variables underlying the entrepreneurial profile of young university students. The information was collected through a structured questionnaire with different response options, administered to a sample of 375 young people. Findings: Factor analysis confirmed that four factors define the entrepreneurial profile of young university students: internal locus, external locus, managerial mindset, and emotional intelligence. In addition, it was found that young people consider that business ethics, the need for acceptance, the ability to communicate, and attitude towards change are essential to be a successful entrepreneur. Conclusions: The entrepreneurial profile of young university students is composed of several important factors: the capacity to manage conflict, problem-solving, empathy, teamwork, ease of decision-making, perseverance, leadership capacity, self-knowledge, and motivation. These factors enable them to take advantage of opportunities and solve problems that arise while making adequate decisions. Originality: This study presents a dimensional structure to analyze the entrepreneurial profile of young university students.
