Journal Title: International Journal of Management Sciences - Year 2013, Vol 1, Issue 6
Abstract
Electronic procurement is frequently defined as the sourcing of goods or services via electronic means, usually through the internet. The e-procurement technology is being adopted world-wide due to its convenience and capability to carry out business in real time. This research had the overall objective of investigating the factors affecting the implementation of e-procurement in the automobile industry. The choice of the automobile industry is premised on its e-procurement transactional volumes and the fact that there are challenges reported in the Kenyan mainstream media regarding its efficacy. The research, guided by a conceptual framework, adopted a lierature review method (desk research) and relied on secondary data. The study analyzes the relevant models, theoretical and empirical lierature. It highlights the findings and suggests recommendations to solve the research problem. The research adopted the survey design which took the form of literature survey (search); relevant research and theoretical information was extracted and reviewed from the internet, books and journals. The collected literature was subjected to inductive analysis: conclusions were drawn from results of the analysis of collected literature rather than proposing a theory before data collection. Conclusions and recommendations are based on the researcher‟s analysis of the desk top literature survey.
