False Antinomies: Universalism and Particularism in Modern Political Life

Abstract
چکیده اکنون نیز در مورد تعیین رابطة بین عام وخاص ابهام فراوان وجود دارد. پساساختارگرایانی همچون میشل فوکو، جامعه‌گرایان، لیبرال‌ها، عمل‌گرایانی مانند ریچارد رورتی و جان راولز، دیدگاه‌های متفاوتی دارند که در متن مقاله مورد بررسی قرار گرفته‌اند؛ اما از دیدگاه نگارنده، تمام این رویکردها بیش از حد انتزاعی هستند. رویکرد نگارنده با این فرض آغاز می‌شود که همسان‌سازیِ مفهوم آزادی با طبقة [اجتماعی]،جامعه یا دولت موجب تحریف آن می‌گردد. آزادی، تنها و منحصراً آزادیِ عمل فرد در جهان است. هدف این مقاله رویارویی با چیزی است که معمولاً یک «تضاد کاذب» به نظر می‌رسد و این رویارویی از طریق برجسته‌سازی نقش تنوع برای جوامع دموکراتیک و روش‌هایی است که از طریق آنها، حکومت قانون لیبرال با ادعاهای عام خود،به عنوان پیش شرطی برای آزادی [افراد یا گروه‌های] خاص عمل می‌کند.
