From “Peaceful Uprising” Against the Communist Party Nomenclature to the Formation of Criminal Enclave: Socio-Humanitarian Dimensions of Donetsk Region in the 1990s

Abstract
The article analyzes socio-humanitarian tendencies, which have determined the development of Donetsk region during the collapse of the USSR and on the eve of it, as well as during the first decade of Ukrainian independence. It analyzes the significance of the discourse concerning the Ukrainian cultural presence for these processes, pays special attention to the systematic opposition of the local administrative and business establishment to the national renaissance of Ukrainians.
