Fuel Properties of Biodiesel Produced from Balci Variety Oil of Safflower (Carthamus tinctorious L.)
Journal Title: International Journal of Automotive Engineering and Technologies - Year 2014, Vol 3, Issue 2
Abstract
In this study, the production of biodiesel from the cold pressed oil of safflower (Carthamus tinctorius L.) of Balci variety grown in Yozgat ecological condition has been carried out. The oil yield of Balci seed and the biodiesel output of the oil were studied in order to know the productivity of the oil. The fuel properties of biodiesel assessed includes, density (15oC), flash point, kinematic viscosity (40oC), cloud point, pour point, freezing point, water content, calorific value, pH and copper strip corrosion. The fuel properties of the biodiesel produced were compared with that of TS EN 14214.

PERFORMANCE, EXHAUST EMISSIONS AND COMBUSTION CHARACTERISTICS OF MOHR OIL BASED BIODIESEL IN A MEDIUM GRADE LOW HEAT REJECTION DIESEL ENGINE
Experiments were carried out to evaluate the performance of a mohr oil based biodiesel (MOBD) at different operating conditions [normal temperature and pre-heated temperature] in a medium grade low heat rejection (LHR) d...
Improving Aerodynamic Performance for a Reliable Wiper System
In this study, it is aimed to simulate aerodynamic forces acting on the windshield wiper system on a simplified geometry at different blade angles. Numerical simulations reveal that at critical blade angles, undesired li...
Effect of cottonseed oil methyl ester on the performance and exhaust emissions of a vehicle
The present work investigates the impact on vehicle performance and exhaust emissions from vehicle when using 100% diesel with petroleum origin (fossil diesel), compared to a mixture of 2-5-100% cottonseed oil methyl est...
The Effect on Performance and Exhaust Emissions of Adding Cotton Oil Methyl Ester to Diesel Fuel
In the study, engine performance and exhaust emissions of diesel fuel and cotton oil methyl ester (COME) blends at proportions of 2%, %5 and 10% (v/v) have been investigated. The engine was fuelled with COME–diesel blend...
Drag Coefficient Determination of a Bus Model Using Reynolds Number Independence
Full-scale wind tunnel tests require too much time and cost to determine drag coefficients of vehicles. In this study, drag coefficient of a blunt bus model was tried to be determined using Reynolds number independence....
