Function of the hypothalamo-neurohypophysial system in rats with myocardial infarction is modified by melatonin.
Journal Title: Pharmacological Reports - Year 2012, Vol 64, Issue 6
Abstract
Pineal and melatonin interactions with the hypothalamo-neurohypophysial system are well documented. In addition, vasopressin and oxytocin secretion are known to be part of the neuroendocrine response to chronic heart failure evoked by myocardial infarction. The present study was undertaken to evaluate the possible regulatory role of melatonin in the vasopressin and oxytocin release in rats with myocardial infarction.

Effect of cyclooxygenase and nitric oxide synthase inhibitors on vincristine induced hyperalgesia in rats.
The purpose of this study was to investigate the effect of cyclooxygenase (COX) inhibitors and nitric oxide synthase (NOS) inhibitors on the development of vincristine (VIN)-induced hyperalgesia. Indomethacin (IND) and c...
Anticonvulsant effect of amiloride in pentetrazole-induced status epilepticus in mice.
Inhibition of sodium hydrogen exchangers (NHE) has been shown to diminish seizure activity in various in vitro and in vivo models of epilepsy. In the present study, we examined the effect of amiloride, a sodium hydrogen...
Involvement of spinal PKA/CREB signaling pathway in the development of bone cancer pain.
Background: It has been shown that spinal PKA/CREB signaling pathway is involved in neuropathic and inflammatory pain, but its effects on bone cancer pain have not previously been investigated. The aim of this study was...
Effect of kindled seizures on rat behavior in water Morris maze test and amino acid concentrations in brain structures.
The effects of kindled seizures elicited by repeated pentetetrazole (PTZ) injections, on learning and memory in the Morris water maze test and on concentration of brain amino acids, were examined in rats. It was found th...
Antinociceptive synergy between diclofenac and morphine after local injection into the inflamed site.
Background: Combinations of non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs with opioids are frequently used to reduce opioid doses required in the clinical management of acute pain. The present study was designed to evaluate the...
