Functional and radiological outcome of operative management of fractures of distal end of radius with locking compression plates
Journal Title: International Journal of Orthopaedics Sciences - Year 2017, Vol 3, Issue 1
Abstract
Introduction: Closed reduction and cast immobilization has been the mainstay of treatment of these fractures but malunion of fracture and subluxation/dislocation of distal radioulnar joint resulting in poor functional and cosmetic results is the usual outcome. The residual deformity of the wrist adversely affects wrist motion and hand function by interfering with the mechanical advantage of extrinsic hand musculature. Methodology: This prospective study was conducted in patients on intra-articular distal end of radius fractures treated with volar locking plate in department of orthopedics. Twenty adult patients were included in this study. Results: LCP with combination holes gives surgeons the opportunity to combine the principles of internal fixation and dynamic compression. Conclusion: Recent studies indicates that the pitfalls faced due to a LCP system have nothing to do with the implant but is attributed to the nonobservation of important basic principles of the concept of biological osteosynthesis.

Short term outcome of use of proximal humerus locking plate as a treatment of proximal humerus fracture using constant score
Objective: This study focuses on short term outcome of use of proximal humerus locking plating as a treatment of proximal humerus fracture using Constant Score. Introduction: Proximal humerus fractures are one of the mos...
Outcome analysis of interlocking nailing for tibial shaft fractures
The results of closed intramedullary nailing technique are excellent for treating fractures of the tibial shaft. We decided to analyse the outcome of primary interlocking nailing done for tibial fractures. All patients w...
Arthroscopic 360 degrees capsular release for treatment of adhesive capsulitis– A study of 40 cases
Introduction: Adhesive capsulitis, better known as frozen shoulder is a common disabling musculoskeletal disease, characterized classically by pain and restriction in range of motion. Management of this condition is cont...
Role of Ilizarov ring fixator in definitive management of tibia shaft fractures: A prospective observational study of 50 cases
Introduction: Tibia shaft fractures can be treated with various modes, each having its merits and demerits. The aim of our study was to analyze clinical outcome of Ilizarov technique in patients with tibia shaft fracture...
Choice of implant in stable intertrochanteric fracture femur: PFNA vs DHS
Introduction: The best treatment for trochanteric fracture remains controversial Many methods have been recommended. Stable fixation that allows early mobilization is the treatment of choice. In this study, we aimed to c...
