Gaining knowledge students from Ukraine in the Russian Imperial universities (40th years of XVIII cent. – 1764)

Abstract

The Rosumovsky’s time powerful influence on imperial politics Rosumovsky’s brothers: favorite of Queen Elizabeth Olexa and Hetman (from 1750) Kyrylo. The important feature of this influence was all promoting relatives and countrymen, activities in support of the homeland. Natives of the Ukrainian lands were the students of the first Russian secular universities: St. Petersburg and Moscow, which are often assisted by K. Rosumovsky. The leadership of Kyrylo Rosumovsky «University» at the Russian Academy of Sciences has contributed to the attraction of this institution students. Not having the appropriate quantitative indicators, you can hypothetically say that students from Ukraine accounted for almost a third of the very small number of students of the Petersburg «University». Initially in the Moscow University was a weak representation of immigrants from Ukraine. However, since the beginning of the 1760th the number of students has increased. Studying in Russian universities was really powerful drawing to imperial practices that result from a Ukraine of high positions in the hierarchy of the Russian Empire of 1770-80th and at the beginning of the XIX centuries. The first stream «littlerussian» to the Russian capitals not found fulfillment, its representatives, individual exceptions do not have capitals.
