Gaining Organizational Competitiveness through Employee Retention: A Cost Cutting Strategy

Abstract

The success and failure of any organization largely depends upon the performance of its employees. The retention of talented employees is the need of time. The organizations that lose their talent and employees, resultantly, lose their competitiveness. So, in order to succeed in this highly competitive world the organizations must adopt certain strategies to retain their key and special talents. The aim of this study is to empirically test and analyze the impact of dimensions of employee retention on organizational competitiveness with the consideration for the moderating role of training and development. A quantitative research was conducted using simple random sampling within the parameter of purposive sampling. Questionnaires were self-administered to 120 Female/Male school teachers. Pearson correlation and hierarchical regression were used for statistical analysis using SPSS 18. According to the results of this study the dimensions of employee retention have a statistically significant relationship with organizational competitiveness. Furthermore, training and development moderates the relationship between employee involvement and organizational competitiveness.
