GASTOPROTECTIVE AND ANTIULCER EFFECT OF CORDIA DICHOTOMA

Journal Title: International Research Journal of Pharmacy (IRJP) - Year 2011, Vol 2, Issue 9

Abstract

The gastroprotective effect of some extracts of the ripe fresh fruits of Cordia dichotoma were investigated in aspirin induced gastric ulcer model and pylorus ligation model in rats. The water and alcoholic extract showed antiulcer activity. The water extract has been found to be more effective than alcoholic extract compared to standard ranitidine in case of aspirin induced gastric ulcer model (p<0.001) as well as in pylorus ligation model.
