Gastroesophageal reflux disease in patients with metabolic syndrome: the peculiarities of clinical course and the modern approaches to treatment

Abstract
The article presents a data on prevalence of gastroesophageal reflux disease and Barrett’s esophagus in patients with metabolic syndrome. The main etiopathogenetic mechanisms of formation and modern approaches to therapy of gastroesophageal reflux in patients with metabolic syndrome have been considered. The issues of drug interactions, as well as the mechanisms of metabolism of pharmacological agents in patients with metabolic syndrome have been discussed. The substantiation has been given to the administration of pantoprazole (Zolopent) as a medication with minimal side effects, without interaction with other medicinal agents and suitable for the long-term treatment of the gastroesophageal reflux disease and Barrett’s esophagus in patients with metabolic syndrome.
