Gene mapping of stripe rust resistance gene loci based on BSA-seq technology in Triticum urartu

Abstract

[Objective] The stripe rust resistance genes were exploited and cloned to provide genetic resources for wheat stripe rust resistance breeding. [Method] In this study, the materials with resistance to stripe rust were screened through inoculation identification by using T. urartu accessions as test plants. The new stripe rust resistance gene loci of resistant T. urartu resource was identification through forward genetics and BSA-seq. [Result] Six resistant T. urartu accessions were identified. We mapped a new stripe rust resistance gene locus in one of the resistant materials TuW1 of T. urartu through genetic analysis and BSA-seq. The locus controlling stripe rust resistance was located on the 0-35.2 Mb of chromosomes 7AS. [Conclusion] A new stripe rust resistance gene loci was identified in T. urartu through forward genetics and BSA-seq technology, providing genetic resources for breeding wheat cultivars with stripe rust resistance.
