GENESIS OF THE CONCEPT OF IDENTITY IN SOCIO-POLITICAL SCIENCES

Abstract
The article attempts to trace and analyze the evolution of general conceptions of “identity”. Our research is carried out not only in the field of political science, but also in other social and humanitarian sciences. As it was shown, this need is caused, firstly, by the close connection between political science and related disciplines, that provide their own scientific tools to it, and, secondly, by the interdisciplinary nature of the category of “identity” and the enormous potential that lies in such an approach to its research. As a result, we made a conclusion, that the understanding of “identity”, as a category of scientific analysis, underwent significant changes over time. They reflected, on the one hand, the corresponding situation of development of knowledge about human and society, and, on the other, mighty social transformations, that radically changed the very nature of identity
