GENESIS OF THE PROBLEM OF AUTONOMOUS LEARNING IN FOREIGN PEDAGOGICAL THEORY AND PRACTICE

Abstract
The article is devoted to genesis of the concept of “autonomous learning”. The author highlights the different views of foreign researchers on the understanding of the essence of autonomous learning in pedagogical research. The article presents comparative characteristics of the basic notions of autonomous learning. The author examines how the interpretation of the main categories of autonomous learning in the historical retrospective is modified. The study of the problem of autonomous learning is current, in connection with the increased need for selfeducation for the successful functioning of the individual in the society of a globalizing environment.
