German SMS Communication: A textual Aspect

Abstract
SMS communication is an important segment of electronic communication that was established in the society of XXI century and its system of communication. The article is devoted to the investigation of German SMS messages alleged to be popular form of communication. According to conceptual semantic features German SMS messages are divided into SMS messages provid- ing technical service and support, mass media SMS messages, private SMS messages, conventionalized SMS utterances, SMS apho- risms and SMS jokes. Different interpretations of the term “text”, one of the most relevant categories of modern linguistics, are con- sidered. Communicative approach to studying German SMS messages allows to explain SMS communication as an interaction that is realized by means of the text. SMS text exists in the system of mobile communication in electronic written form of communicative activity of mobile phone users – SMS communicators. Technical space of SMS communication directly influences the process of text generation and stipulates appearance of peculiar characteristics of SMS messages texts.
