GLOBAL AIR QUALITY INITIATIVES: LOOKING TO 2030
Journal Title: International scientific journal Science and Innovation - Year 2025, Vol 4, Issue 4
Abstract
As air pollution continues to pose a major threat to human health, ecosystems, and the climate, global efforts to monitor, manage, and reduce airborne pollutants have gained unprecedented urgency. This article explores the landscape of international air quality initiatives aimed at achieving significant improvements by 2030. It reviews frameworks such as the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), the World Health Organization’s air quality guidelines, and regional collaborations like the European Green Deal and the Clean Air Asia initiative. The paper also analyzes technological advancements, policy measures, and cross-border cooperation strategies that have been implemented to combat air pollution. Through case studies and data-driven insights, the article assesses progress, highlights challenges, and identifies future pathways toward achieving cleaner air worldwide. The study emphasizes that while global momentum is growing, achieving sustainable air quality improvements by 2030 will require stronger political will, equitable funding mechanisms, and integration of climate and health policies.
