Grassroots Movements and Policy Advocacy: A Dual Approach to Climate Activism and Social Justice
Journal Title: Falcons Journal of Advanced Research - Year 2025, Vol 1, Issue 1
Abstract
This paper explores the intersection of climate activism and social justice, with a particular focus on grassroots movements and policy advocacy. It argues that these two elements, when combined, can effectively address environmental issues and mitigate the disproportionate impact of climate change on marginalized communities. The first part of the paper delves into the role of grassroots movements in promoting environmental awareness and action at the local level. It highlights successful case studies where community-led initiatives have led to significant environmental improvements and increased resilience against climate change impacts. The second part of the paper discusses the importance of policy advocacy in driving systemic change. It examines how policies that prioritize environmental sustainability and social equity can help create a more just and resilient society. The paper concludes by emphasizing the need for a dual approach that combines grassroots activism and policy advocacy. This approach, it argues, is key to achieving climate justice and creating a sustainable, carbon-free future.
