Hepatit B Virüs Taşıyıcı Anne ve Bebeklerinin İzlemi

Journal Title: Eurasian Journal of Family Medicine - Year 2017, Vol 6, Issue 3

Abstract

Hepatitis B virus (HBV) infection is a crucial public health problem since it is commonly faced worldwide. HBV infected fertile women play a major role in spread of this virus. The prevalence of chronic hepatitis B in pregnant women is equal to that in the overall population. Almost 5% of the women in the world are Hepatitis B surface antigen (HBsAg) positive. The babies born to HBsAg positive mothers are 65 to 90% likely to become chronic hepatitis B carrier when untreated. Such babies are subject to the risks of chronic hepatitis and hepatocellular cancer as they grow up. In order to diminish this risk, it is recommended to screen the pregnant women for HBsAg, monitor the positive individuals by further detailed tests and vaccine the babies born to HBsAg positive mothers with Hepatitis B vaccine and Hepatitis B Immunoglobulin (HBIG) immediately.
