Abstract

The relevance of the research topic is conditioned by the fact that today Ukraine is on the way of reforming the education system. Creation of a high-quality and effective model of higher legal education, its further improve- ment and functioning in modern conditions, the success of lawmaking and norm-setting activities are impossi- ble without generalizing and taking into account the experience of previous generations, their theoretical and practical achievements. In the conditions of formation of Ukraine as a democratic and lawful state, an impor- tant role is played by legal education, the main task of which is the formation of a high level of legal culture and legal awareness of the population. In Ukraine, legal education and science have undergone a difficult thorny path of formation. Ukrainian legal education and science were formed under the influence of various scientific schools, both east and west, and all this influenced the present state of science and education in general. The le- gal education system that was formed in the 20th century was, for its time, innovative, powerful and responding to the challenges of time. Powerful legal educational centers existed and exist in almost all regions of Ukraine (Kharkiv, Kiev, Lviv, Odessa, etc.), their representatives are known all over the world. With the achievement of Ukraine's independence, priorities for the provision of educational services, including in the legal sphere, were changed. The reform of legal education was carried out in several stages (90th years of the XX century, 2000, 2010 and till now). It should be noted that during the years of Ukraine's independence, and this for a moment already 27 years, there is an update of legal institutes, which are aimed at protecting the rights of the person, such as the court, notary and others. All this update will become possible if the legislative framework regulating these issues and bringing it in line with European standards will change.
