HYDROGEOLOGICAL ASPECTS OF PROSPECTION, EXPLORATION AND PRODUCTION OF SHALE GAS AND TIGHT GAS IN POLAND
Journal Title: Biuletyn Państwowego Instytutu Geologicznego - Year 2011, Vol 445, Issue 445
Abstract
This is an attempt to open the discussion on hydrogeological aspects of prospecting, exploration and possible future exploitation of unconventional gas deposits in Poland. Due to development of sophisticated (advanced) technology during the last 8 years, the significant progress in the field of natural gas exploitation from unconventional deposits has been made. There are strong geological premises that such deposits in Poland may be perspective which stirs up enthusiasm about possible gas production from domestic sources. Due to a very fast development of shale and tight gas exploitation technology especially in USA and Canada, people become more and more aware of water supply needs and environmental hazards of the process and hydrogeologists must get ready to give answers to many new questions. Environmental conditionality and environmental awareness of gas production process from unconventional sources, seems to be the key problem we will have to face in near future.

EVALUATION OF MECHANICAL PROPERTIES OF VARVED CLAY FROM RADZYMIN TEST SITE USING SEISMIC CONE PENETROMETER
This paper presents a method of seismic piezocone tests. It presents a brief description of the SCPTu Geotech testing apparatus and testing methodology. The results obtained at Mokre test site from in situ measurements o...
IMPORTANCE OF SPRINGS RESEARCHES FOR IDENTIFICATION OF HYDROGEOLOGICAL CONDITIONS BASED ON THE EXAMPLE OF OLSZOWY POTOK AND TURBACZ CATCHMENTS (GORCE)
The spatial diversification of the chemical and physical properties of groundwater and their chemical composition was documented in the studied catchments as a result of spring investigation. This is due to the depth of...
INFLUENCE OF ASSUMPTIONS IN NUMERICAL MODELLING ON THE SIMULATION OF BUILDING DEWATERING
Many building constructions require a building dewatering. Generally drilled wells are used for dewatering in excavation sites localized near the sea shore. According to the Polish Water Law 2001 (D.U. 2005 no. 239, 2019...
DETERMINING GAS CONCENTRATION IN GROUNDWATER IN STATIC CONDITIONS
The article discusses theoretical basis for determining gas concentrations in groundwater by measuring gas parameters in a well at head level. The measurements, performed in static conditions, apply to gas-rich groundwat...
