Ichtiofauna małych dopływów dolnej Wisły. Część II – między Świeciem a ujściem / Fish fauna of small tributaries of the lower Vistula River Part II – between the town of Świecie and Vistula mouth

Journal Title: Roczniki Naukowe Polskiego Związku Wędkarskiego - Year 2014, Vol 27, Issue

Abstract

This paper is a continuation of the first part of study on determination of fish and lampreys abundance in small tributaries of the lower Vistula River. In this second part, we describe the fauna of affluents of the main river between the town of Świecie and the Vistula mouth. The second part is a result of electrofishing in 30 sites. A total of 3498 fish and lamprey specimens were caught, and the widespread species were: pike Esox lucius, roach Rutilus rutilus and gudgeon Gobio gobio. Additionally, roach and gudgeon were the most dominant species. In general, the contribution of rheophilic species, except gudgeon, was low. Brook lamprey Lampetra planeri, bullhead Cottus gobio and brown trout Salmo trutta were relatively numerous in the upper Mątawa River. Spirlin Alburnoides bipunctatus and burbot Lota lota were noted only in the middle section of the Liwa River. Negative impact of barriers on fish fauna, including the lack of contact with the main river, was evident in most streams.
