IDIOLECTAL PERSONAL NOMINATION IN THE RUSSIAN EPISTOLARY GENRE (ON THE MATERIAL OF LETTERS BY А. S. PUSHKIN AND M. YU. LERMONTOV)

Journal Title: Мова - Year 2015, Vol 0, Issue 23

Abstract

The results of literature studies have recently confirmed the existence of a correlation between speech features and psychological characteristics of a person, but have not eliminated the problem of finding the speech patterns that are relevant for defining other personality traits. In the psychological and linguistic literature the question of typical gender, age, occupational group communication has a certain tradition of studying and a number of modern studies. However, the problem of the specificity of the speech idiolects still remains unsolved. Of particular interest in connection with the organization of individual behaviour in the aspect of nomination are the centuries, unjustly ignored by modern researchers. Meanwhile, the study of the use of Personal Names and appellative units of other historical periods (such as the nineteenth century — a period of Russian history which is rather peculiar in the traditions verbal communication) can be very fruitful for the solution of contemporary problems of national socio-historical onomastics and onomasiology. In the past few decades, interest in the study of letters spiked in various aspects. The object of this study is the epistolary heritage of Alexander Pushkin and Mikhail Lermontov. The subject is the idiolectal nomination of a person in the aspect of individual laws of its functioning.
