Abstract
The reign of Chalukyas of Badami began a new era in the history of Karnataka as well as in the history of South India. They ruled for over two and a half centuries and they united the whole of South under an empire. A South Indian based kingdom took control and consolidated the entire region between Kaveri and the Narmada rivers. The rise of this empire saw the birth of efficient administration, overseas trade and commerce and the development of new style of architecture. Sampath Kumar B.
