IMPACT OF THE CURRENT EUROPEAN CRISES ON THE EUROPEAN CITIZENSHIP VALUE

Abstract
European citizenship as a supranational form of citizenship entails many outreach rights and benefits which belong to citizens of the EU member states. Therefore, it is an institute which contributes to the positive relationship of people to the European grouping from its very adoption in the Treaty on European Union. However, Europe has been passing from one crisis to another in recent years and confidence in the EU has been decreasing slowly. The result is that citizens of one of its most powerful countries have decided to leave the Union. The aim of this article is therefore to analyze the importance of European citizenship for European citizens in the context of current crises. The paper is informative and based on the analyses of recent Eurobarometers it examines, compares and evaluates what impact has the migration crisis and successful referendum on United Kingdom's withdrawal from the Union on the perception of the European citizenship value.
