Impact of the pastoral land use on soil properties in Skolivski Beskydy Mts. (Ukrainian part of the Eastern Carpathians)
Journal Title: Roczniki Bieszczadzkie - Year 2011, Vol 19, Issue 1
Abstract
Analyzes of the impact of different pastoral land use forms on the main physico-chemical and biotic properties of the acid brown soils in the ecosystems of the Skolivski Beskydy Mts. (Ukrainian part of the East Carpathians) are presented. It has been determined that the sustained pastoral land use, in particular cattle grazing, leads to proofing of the upper soil layer, increase of soil reaction, reduced level of the organic matter contents, and degradation of the organic carbon pool in soil, which is reflected by the soil enzymes activity indicators and the contents of water-soluble carbon.
