Journal Title: Psychology and Education: A Multidisciplinary Journal - Year 2023, Vol 6, Issue 10

Abstract

This research is conducted to improve the productivity of Gulayan sa Paaralan through Drip Irrigation Technology. This innovation is very timely due to the impact of the pandemic that limits the face-to-face classes which means no students will help maintain in watering the school garden. The researcher aims to answer questions that will be helpful in the quest for a technology that could improve the productivity of our school garden. The first question is what is the status of the Gulayan sa Paaralan production before and after the implementation of Drip Irrigation Technology? Second, is there an improvement in the production of the Gulayan sa Paaralan after the implementation of Drip Irrigation Technology? This study used the experimental-comparative method wherein ;pinakbet veggies are planted in the garden plots with and without drip irrigation. The size of the experimental area and controlled area are the same which is 16 m x 16 m each composed of 15 garden plots. The result shows that the garden area with irrigation has a higher yield than that without irrigation in the two croppings. This is proven by comparing the harvested products from plots with irrigation and those without irrigation in two consecutive croppings. The research reveals that using drip irrigation as an intervention of the problem in the productivity of our Gulayan sa Paaralan is effective because it produces a better harvest than the traditional way of maintaining our school garden. It also shows that the technology is capable of watering our entire garden area with minimal participation of our teaching staff and students but with higher productivity. This is a very good result because it resolves the problem of our Gulayan sa Paaralan productivity at the same time helps us to continue planting even during the pandemic time.
