Influence of different factors on the germination of encapsulated somatic embryos of Saccharum spp hybrid var Cuba 87-51
Journal Title: Biotecnología Vegetal - Year 2001, Vol 1, Issue 2
Abstract
With the objective to regenerate plants from sugarcane somatic embryos encapsulated in sodium alginate hidrogel different factors was studied. The addition of coconut water, GA3 (0.5 mg.l-1) and 6-BAP (0.2 mg.l-1) to the synthetic endosperm increased the velocity and germination percentage of somatic embryos encapsulated. The immersion treatment in 50mM solution of KNO3 during five hours improved the encapsulated somatic embryos germination percentage.

n vitro multiplication of Colocasia esculenta clone ‘INIVIT MC-2001’ in semi-automated culture systems
One alternative to increase yields in the taro (Colocasia esculenta) culture, could be the application of biotechnological methods, especially semi-automated systems. The new clone ‘INIVIT MC-2001’ with high productive...
Phytotoxic activity evaluation on Musa spp. and Total protein content of Fusarium culture fitrates oxysporum f. sp. cubense race 1
Fusarium wilt, caused by Fusarium oxysporum f. sp cubense, is considered the disease that causes most of damages to bananas and plantains worldwide. The present work was developed with the objective to determine the ph...
Donor plant mycobiota and filamentous fungi contaminants from the in vitro establishment of five species forest
Although protocols to propagate large numbers of woody species by in vitro culture have been developed, microbial contamination of explants is a fundamental problem which limits its application. The objectives of this st...
Translating theory into practice for conservation of germplasm of recalcitrant-seeded species
Recalcitrant seeds, which are metabolically-active and desiccation-sensitive, can be stored in the short-term at non-injurious temperatures under conditions precluding dehydration, but associated problems include fungal...
Evaluation in two agroecosystems of the behavior of papaya vitroplants cv Maradol roja
Papaya plants (Carica papaya L.) cv Maradol Roja, obtained by in vitro culture (3rd and 12th subculture), and control plants spread by the traditional way, were planted in two agroecosystems. When evaluating the obtained...
