Informatics in nursing research

Abstract
Informatics on nursing research has been used in different ways, bringing opportunities and challenges in the advancement of knowledge in nursing, despite of being little used. Given the complexity involved in knowledge of Nursing Informatics, this article aims to describe the strategies and applications of informatics in nursing research, the present main resources of information technology for research in health and nursing, to stimulate the development of new studies in the area and as the research agenda establishment for consolidation of Nursing Informatics in Brazil. It concludes with the importance of stimulating the new studies development in the area and contributing to the incentive to consolidate the data in nursing research in Brazil since the establishment of a national research agenda.
