INNOVATIVE ACTIVITIES OF SMALL AND MEDIUM BUSINESS ENTERPRISES IN UKRAINE: TRENDS AND PERSPECTIVES

Abstract
The article is devoted to the research of tendencies and perspectives of innovative activity of small and medium enterprises (SMEs) in Ukraine. The current conditions are characterized and the main problems of development of entrepreneurship of Ukraine from the review of innovative activity of small and medium enterprises are outlined. Significant lag is observed in the dynamics of innovation activity of small and medium enterprises of economically developed countries. The number of innovative SMEs of Ukraine is reduced. Most surveyed enterprises made the technological innovations, and the process innovation was made of them. The vast majority of SMEs with technological innovations associate this activity with the acquisition of machines, equipment and software. The analysis of the statistical array of information indicates that most SMEs do not want to innovate because of the low demand and innovation, low competition and lack of real ideas and opportunities. The main problem of innovation activity of SMEs is the lack of funds within the enterprise. The ineffectiveness of the existing normative and legal support of innovation activity was revealed. A significant disadvantage of the innovative activity of SMEs in Ukraine is the lack of state support. The practice of innovative activity of small and medium-sized enterprises shows that the most effective innovative structures are the technological parks, technopolises, innovative business incubators, scientific and scientific-technological centres. The activities of such structures are aimed at creating favourable conditions for the effective operation of innovative enterprises specializing in the development and implementation of innovative business ideas. The main ways of creation the favourable innovative climate for entrepreneurs are outlined; among them the creation of local and regional infrastructure, which could provide information, organizational and legal support of innovative enterprises, determined the mechanisms of creation and use of intellectual property results in the sphere of small business.
