Insurance market of the Visegrad Group countries in the context of regional economies

Abstract
Prosperity and growth of the insurance sector are closely linked to the overall economic development of individual countries and continents. In the first half of the 21st century, the insurance market in Central European countries, including the countries of the Visegrad Group, has recorded a significant boost in its development. This fact can be observed in the development of gross domestic product and premiums. The aim of this paper is to find out how a change in GDP affects premiums in individual countries of the Visegrad Group. By examining the correlation coefficient we have found that Slovakia had the highest dependence between GDP and premiums, while Hungary had the lowest. Slovakia had also the greatest value of the coefficient of determination of the dependence between premiums and GDP.
