INTERFACIAL STRESSES ANALYSIS OF DAMAGED STRUCTURES: NEW FINITE ELEMENT APPROACH
Journal Title: Journal of Science and today’s world - Year 2013, Vol 2, Issue 7
Abstract
The phenomenon of aging and the deterioration of structures have motivated extensive research in the development of techniques for repair of metal and nonmetallic structures by using the bonding technique of composite FRP plates, through the development of epoxy adhesives. These methods enable, thereby to extend their lives under a low cost of ownership and ensure minimal pollution to the environment. In strengthened bonding structures, the phenomenon of debonding is often the popular mode of failure, and this debonding is highly dependent on interfacial stresses in the adhesive layer between the beam and the plate. In this paper we are interested of modeling the interfacial stresses, using a code computes by finite element code (ANSYS), and taking into account the coupling effect of mechanical and thermal loads. Modeling model shows that the shear stress and normal stress are significant and are concentrated at the end of the FRPplate. Geometric and physical parameters were conducted to optimize the impact and amplitude of stresses value.
