INTERFAITH DIALOGUE FROM THE VIEWPOINT OF SYRIAN MIGRANTS IN THE ALEXANDRIA REFUGEE CAMP IN GREECE

Abstract
Background: This article seeks to contribute to the discussion on the dialogue between Christianity and Islam. It introduces the results of the research on inter-religious dialogue from the perspective of Syrian Muslim migrants in the Alexandria Refugee Camp in Greece. Its primary aim was to identify the key religious values and the degree of tolerance of Muslim migrants vis-à-vis Christians and their perception of inter-religious dialogue. Methods: With respect to the highly specific nature of the environment as well as the type of respondents (i.e., Syrian Muslim migrants), a quantitative research strategy was chosen. The research method was one of a survey with 102 participants. For the research, the relevant results were collected from 96 participants, due to their religious adherence to Islam. The collected data was analysed through a statistical method using SPSS software. Results: The research results are presented in four main areas: religious experience, dialogue of life, life expectations of Muslim migrants in Europe, and intercultural dialogue/dialogue of cooperation. Conclusion: The research results can especially be applied to the field of group and community work with the people on the run who are predominantly Muslim.
