INTERNATIONAL COOPERATION ON ANTI-SMUGGLING

Abstract
The article defines the concept of smuggling and its origin. The role of international cooperation in combating smuggling is considered. The analysis of some international legal acts, which promote the implementation of international cooperation to combat transnational crime, is underway. A thorough analysis of international acts allowed to distinguish two main ways of cooperation in counteracting smuggling between Ukraine and other countries, namely: 1) exchange of information: on the current customs legislation; on methods of combating smuggling, violations of customs rules, as well as data that may facilitate disclosure, prevent smuggling and violations of customs rules; the types and routes of smuggling; about new types and places of production of drugs and psychotropic substances, routes of their illegal movement, results of their identification and laboratory analysis, as well as experience of using technical means of control, specially trained dogs; publications, scientific, professional and educational works on the issues of combating smuggling and violations of customs rules; 2) provision of operational data: persons suspected of smuggling, trafficking in or possession of drugs; on vehicles, cargoes and mail that are used to move smuggling; on the facts of detecting contraband. Today, smuggling is one of the main problems that destabilizes the foreign policy of our country. In addition, this problem is not bypassed by any of the countries of the world, and therefore needs to be resolved in a multilateral way of cooperation. The article focuses on the key role of Interpol in combating smuggling. The ways in which Interpol contributes to the fight against smuggling is determined.
