Investigating The Impact Of Human Capital Reporting (Hcr) On Financial Performance, Stock Price And Firm Value
Journal Title: International Research Journal of Applied and Basic Sciences - Year 2013, Vol 6, Issue 2
Abstract
In recent years, a trend in management has been the introduction of Human Capital (HC) management and accounting. As a result of this trend, there has been a demand from external stakeholders for a different sort of information, and many firms have, in an attempt to meet this demand, become more involved in the creation, measurement and reporting of information other than ‘financial’ data. In this article, Gamerschlag and Moeller’s model (2011) is used that describes cause-and-effect relationships between Human Capital Reporting (HCR) and company financial performance. Therefore, the main purpose of this study is to examine the impact of HCR on financial performance and value of companies listed in the Tehran Stock Exchange. The dataset includes 112 companies listed in the Tehran Stock Exchange during the period 1385-1389. The study finds no significant evidence of the effect of HCR on the firm financial performance, but HCR has a positive and significant effect on stock price and firm value.
